Nathan Scott Reflects on the Impact of Serving

If you have been involved with Love INC, you have likely crossed paths with Nathan Scott. Nathan has been part of Love INC since 2009, when the founding board called him to serve as the organization’s first executive director. His heart for this ministry, reaches back even further. While attending Moody Bible Institute in 1992, he was introduced to youths living in Cabrini-Green, one of Chicago’s housing projects. He soon found himself leading after-school programs, summer activities, and camps for children and teens. “Over the course of nine years, I invested deeply in that community. I spent time building meaningful relationships with children, young adults, and parents. Those relationships had a positive impact on them, especially on the kids, and it continues to this day,” said Nathan.

After several years of ministry in inner city Chicago, Nathan returned to the DeKalb area, continuing to serve through local churches and at a homeless shelter nearby. Those experiences have shaped his passion for serving those in need, and he finds encouragement in developing the ministry of Love INC. He values creating opportunities for individuals to step out from the church pews and into the community – putting their faith into action and helping others. Throughout his life, Nathan has been inspired by many who modeled a life of service, including his parents, fellow ministry workers, and members of churches that he has attended. Their examples have helped to guide him into the role he serves in today. “Seeing the needs of neighbors who reach out for help, participating in meeting those needs, and witnessing the relief that follows are all deeply meaningful to me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve at Love INC,” said Nathan.
